Welcome to my website! As a neuropsychiatrist, I provide care for clients with psychiatric and behavioral conditions in the context of neurological illness, including epilepsy, stroke, movement disorders and others. My main area of expertise is Functional Neurologic Disorder (FND), also known as Conversion Disorder.
My work includes directing the FND Day Program at La Selva, a subsidiary of Momentum for Mental Health in Palo Alto, CA. I also serve as adjunct faculty at Stanford University School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, training new clinicians.
Many of the conditions I treat may result in loss of independence and significant life limitation. My style is collaborative. I believe in a therapeutic relationship which fosters the development of autonomy and sense of mastery, which are key to recovery.
I accept client self-referrals plus those from neurologists, psychiatrists and others. Consultation appointments are via HIPAA-compliant video. At the conclusion, a tailored treatment plan is developed. Depending on circumstances, I may either communicate recommendations to a client's health care team and/or recommend follow-up visits.
Of note, I do not work directly with insurance. However, if a client has out-of-network mental health coverage, I am glad to create a superbill for insurance reimbursement. For those who qualify, a sliding scale is available (please request).
